Human
Relations Education is designed to
create “people” awareness and
understanding in your community or
organization. Topics such as
Cultural Awareness, Communication Across
Cultural Lines, Diversity and
Generational Differences are designed
for this purpose. The training
will answer the following questions that
are normally associated with the subject
matter:
Why do I
act and see things the way that I do?
Why don’t other people act and see
things the same way as I do? Why
should we have to acknowledge other
people’s ethnic and gender differences?
What values and ideas separate the
generations? How do we resolve and
understand racial issues? What
makes us different?
Cultural Awareness
Lessons are
designed to give individuals an
opportunity to understand
how their cultural background is a part of what makes you
who you are and to better understand
others cultures. Cultural

Communication Across Cultural Lines
Understanding cultures is just one step
to effective communication across
cultural lines. However, learning
about culture and how it relates to the
communication process is vital if
individuals are to positively overcome
differences. The following topics
are designed for this reason:
Communications Process
To describe
the communications process; identify key
elements of the communications process;
and identify factors affecting the
effectiveness of interpersonal
communications.
Communicating Across Differences
Individuals
examine the relationship between
interpersonal, intercultural,
interracial and intergender
communication.
Effective
and Active Listening
To identify
strategies for enhancing listening
skills across cultures. Emphasis
is placed on removing blocks to
effective cultural listening.
Effective
Feedback Skills
To describe
the process of giving and receiving
feedback. Emphasis is placed on
strategies for improving feedback
skills.
Perceptions
To describe
the perception process and its
importance to the communication.
Diversity
"Most of what you learn about diversity comes mostly from
what you 'hear' not what you 'see' or
know"
With this being said the question then
is, do you want to learn about diversity
from someone who has not lived it?
Diversity is reality today. The
United States is not a uniform
homogeneous society; there are potential
risks and benefits of diversity, which
cannot be ignored if we are to achieve
excellence and a tolerant society.
This course is designed to help
individuals identify, understand, and
positively cope with what makes us
different.
Generational Differences
“This is not your grandparents or parents work environment”
Have you heard this being said? The question then is whose
generational work environment is it?
Understanding how different generations’ thoughts and actions may
affect the cultural and social work
environment as well as the community can
create a more harmonious situation.
This course will discuss the different
generations such as: Veterans, Baby Boomers, Generation
X,
and Nexters (Generation Y) and there impact on the
community or company.
